Rock band Shinedown has officially announced it will no longer perform at the upcoming Rock the Country festival, following criticism and backlash from fans. The decision was shared on Friday, February 6, through a public statement posted on the band’s social media platforms.

In their message, the group emphasized their long-held belief in inclusivity and togetherness, making it clear why they chose to step away. “Shinedown Withdraws From Rock the Country Festival, Saying the Band Stands for Unity, Not Division” — a sentiment that became the heart of their announcement.

“Our Purpose Is to Unite, Not Divide”

“Shinedown is everyone’s band,” the group wrote. “We’ve been given a platform to bring people together through the power of music. We have one boss — the audience. Our mission has always been unity, not division. With that in mind, we’ve decided not to take part in the Rock the Country festival.”

The band acknowledged that not everyone would agree with their choice but stood firm in their reasoning. “We understand this decision may spark differing opinions,” they added, “but we don’t want to be involved in anything that could deepen divisions.”

Festival Appearance Quietly Removed

Shinedown had been scheduled to perform at a Rock the Country stop in Anderson, South Carolina, on July 25–26. That date has since disappeared from the festival’s official lineup. Other artists previously listed for that weekend included Creed and Brantley Gilbert.

Shinedown now joins a growing list of performers who have withdrawn from the event. Artists Carter Faith and Morgan Wade also pulled out earlier. While Ludacris appeared on early promotional materials, his representatives later clarified that he was never meant to be part of the lineup.

About the Rock the Country Tour

The Rock the Country tour is set to visit seven cities, including Ashland, Kentucky, and Ocala, Florida. The festival features rotating lineups with artists such as Jelly Roll, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley, Jon Pardi, Brantley Gilbert, and Hank Williams Jr. The tour is scheduled to kick off May 1–2 in Belleville, Texas.

While organizers have not publicly aligned the festival with any political movement, some performers have drawn attention for their outspoken views. Jason Aldean and Kid Rock have both publicly supported Donald Trump. Additionally, Kid Rock and Gilbert are slated to appear at Turning Point USA’s alternative “All-American” halftime show, airing opposite the NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show, which this year will feature Bad Bunny.

A Clear Line in the Sand

For Shinedown, the decision ultimately came down to principle. By stepping away, the band reinforced its stance that music should be a force for connection — not controversy — even when that choice comes at a cost.
