The opening week of February flew by in a blur, and the music world kept pace. Some of the biggest names in pop and hip-hop kicked off the month with fresh releases, each bringing a distinctly different sound and mood. Much like the lingering winter storms across the U.S., no two drops feel remotely alike.
This year has already been generous to fans of former One Direction members. Harry Styles recently topped the charts with his Billboard Hot 100 hit Aperture, while Louis Tomlinson launched January with his new album How Did I Get Here?. Now, Zayn Malik has stepped into the spotlight. After surprising fans with news of another album on the way — Konnakol — the British star released its lead single, Die for Me, on Friday, February 6.
That same day saw two major album releases arrive back-to-back. Nick Jonas unveiled Sunday Best, a 12-track project that includes a family affair with brothers Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas. Meanwhile, J. Cole finally delivered his long-awaited album The Fall-Off, a massive release split across two discs and packed with new material.
Singles had their moment, too. Rising artist sombr followed up a standout Best New Artist medley at the Grammys with the release of Homewrecker. And Joji returned with Hotel California, a teaser track ahead of his upcoming album Piss in the Wind.
With so much new music landing at once, choosing a favorite isn’t easy. That’s where Billboard comes in. Whether you’re bundled up against the cold or soaking up warmer weather elsewhere, now’s the time to weigh in.
